Overview
A criminal charge is an accusation, not a verdict. The State has to prove every element beyond a reasonable doubt, and our job starts with holding it to that burden.
We read the reports the way the jury will hear them. We look at how the stop happened, how the statements were taken, whether the search was lawful, and whether the evidence actually shows what the charging document claims it shows. Where there is a suppression issue, we file. Where the State’s case is thin, we say so early and loudly.
